The pets of the week are Dixie, a male fawn-colored cocker spaniel. Dixie has shown some aggression toward children and would probably do best with an older family.

The other featured pet is Ms. Kitty, a female cat who is described as sweet and loving. She is current on all shots and has been at the shelter since October 2007.

The Texarkana Animal Shelter has 40 dogs and 36 cats for adoption, said a shelter official. There were seven adoptions in the past week.
