An attempt by some Texarkana, Ark., citizens to rename a portion of an historically significant street failed Tuesday night, as a slim Planning Commission vote fell one short.

The renaming of Ash Street needed four votes to move on for Board of Directors’ approval, but only five of the seven commissioners were present and the vote died 3-2.
