Thousands attended a changing-of-the-guard ceremony Wednesday at Red River Army Depot to bid farewell to Col. Douglas Evans, commander of the depot for three years.

Evans is transferring to Fort Belvoir in Virginia, where he will be executive officer to the deputy commanding general for Army Materiel Command.

Evans said he was honored and grateful to have served RRAD and is pleased with the depot’s status.
