Discussion about building an aircraft rescue and firefighting station at Texarkana Regional Airport started Wednesday as construction representatives and airport officials met for a preconstruction conference.

Representatives from the Weatherford, Texas, company hired to build the station, Imperial Construction, met with members of the airport’s three engineering and architect firms that designed the prject.

Imperial’s contract calls for the company to be paid $2.27 million, most of which will be federal grant money. The tentative construction starting date is July 18. ...
