Nursing department proposes program
To help boost the low number of nursing teachers and administrators in the region, Texas A&M University-Texarkana will get a shot in the arm with a proposed master’s degree program.
“There is a tremendous shortage for nurse educators,” said Dr. Josephine Kahler, dean, TAMU-T College of Health and Behavioral Sciences. “When you don’t have the educators, you cannot enroll qualified students who are on the waiting list at many schools.” The university will offer two courses this fall giving practicing nurses a pathway to obtain a master’s degree.
