Fatality: Local man dies following fire

The 56-year-old farmer who was driving the tractor died at the scene following the tractor and pasture fire. The cause of death was unkown, and an autopsy was ordered by Miller County Coroner Eddie Hawkins.
A 56-year-old Miller County man died Saturday afternoon when a tractor caught fire in a pasture on U.S. Highway 82 about five miles west of Garland City.

The man’s name was not immediately released pending notification of next of kin, said Miller County Coroner Eddie Hawkins.

The man was pronounced dead by Hawkins at 5:42 p.m. at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana. The cause of death was not immediately known and an autopsy was ordered, Hawkins said.
