Passing the test of time: Couple celebrates 73 years together

Horn presented the couple with a certificate congratulating the pastor and his wife’s service to the community. To so many, the phrase “Until death do us part” are empty words. It is part of a vow that has no guarantees. “Maybe it will last, maybe it won’t,” many think as they sign the marriage license. “Will they really stick it out, or will they soon be signing another piece of paper—one to dissolve the union?” the witnesses sometimes wonder. The Rev. Leo Hughes and his wife, Dorothy, are living proof that the commitment made in front of family and friends can last a lifetime.
