Ignoring the sacred nature of cemeteries, vandals hit a Fouke, Ark., graveyard sometime last weekend, turning over headstones, damaging tombstones and flower urns and creating random destruction.

“When people do not respect the dead, who do they respect?” asked Frank McFerrin, Concord Cemetery Association president.

“The damages involved the turning over of large tombstones, the breaking of footstones, the throwing of concrete and ceramic containers normally used for flowers. They would pull the flowers out and throw them against the tombstones.
