The causes of two house fires in New Boston and Simms, Texas, on Wednesday are still unknown and under investigation, authorities said.

The fire that left Todd Hambleton and his family unable to live in their home at 830 S. Bowie in New Boston apparently began in the living room area, said Fire Marshal Robin Hilton of the New Boston Volunteer Fire Department.

The living room was destroyed by the fire and smoke damage spread across the entire home, added Hilton.
