Living Hope psychiatric hospital at 801 Arkansas Blvd. is closing its doors indefinitely because of long-standing financial woes.

Employees and patients alike carried belongings out of the hospital Thursday to waiting cars in the glaring afternoon sun.

“They called me this morning and told me I had to come and get my son,” said Lowanda Armstrong, whose 16-year old son was a patient at Living Hope. “His father tried to get him yesterday but they wouldn’t release him ... They didn’t call me until this morning and let me know they’re closing.”
