Prosecutors in Miller County have formally charged a former Texarkana, Ark., High School teacher with first-degree sexual assault.

Brenda “Shelly” Fant is accused of sexual misconduct with a 17-year-old male student in December 2007.

Fant, 32, is scheduled for arraignment on the charge Tuesday before Miller County Circuit Judge Jim Hudson. If convicted, Fant faces between six and 30 years in an Arkansas prison.
