Firefighters foam chicken fat blaze
![]() Photo courtesy of Walter Smith De Queen firefighters climb a ladder to spray foam on burning chicken fat inside a trailer Wednesday morning on U.S. Highway 71, north of De Queen. The fire, inside a 18-wheeler trailer, had to be extinguished by foam instead of water to keep it from spreading to other bundles of chicken fat, said De Queen Fire Marshal Dennis Pruitt. To make matters worse, the burning chicken fat began turning into grease, creating an odoriferous smell as firefighters arrived.
