Lt. William Smith of the Texarkana, Ark., Fire Department walks into the woods along a trail made by a bulldozer to battle a brush fire Wednesday behind Miller County jail. The fire was reported about 3:30 p.m. by jail employees. Fire officials think the blaze started after compost on the Texarkana Country Club golf course compressed and caught fire. The Fire Department, Arkansas Forestry Service and Miller County Office of Emergency Management worked together to extinguish the flames.
