A letter, being circulated locally, is asking Texarkana, Ark., residents to submit $50 to have their address numbers painted on the street curbs adjacent to their houses—ostensibly to help law enforcement agencies.

But police say the letter is a scam.

The Texarkana, Ark., Police Department was recently contacted about a letter circulating in the Woodline housing addition north of Interstate 30.
