An afternoon fire that started in a bedroom was quickly put out Monday by the Texarkana, Texas, Fire Department. No one was injured.

“The lady had just gone out when her grandson called her to come see it,” said Battalion Chief James Ragsdale.

A woman and her two grandchildren were home when the fire started. None of them were hurt, despite the woman’s tenacious attempts to stop the fire herself.

“I was working that fire,” said resident Luvenia Waller, who had rented the house at 503 Connella St. for nearly 10 years.
