A stay at the Miller County jail comes with some unofficial amenities.

Arrays of illegal drugs and cell phones are often at the ready. Hacksaws aren’t out of the question. And there’s even a choice of accommodations: a cell or a nook in the ceiling where sleeping mats get stashed.

At least that’s been the case for much of the year at the beleaguered border-city lockup, from which 11 inmates, including a convicted killer, have escaped since February.
