Weather stalls full activation of sirensAlarms will be turned on after rain dries up

Most of the city’s alarm sirens were faulty and are being replaced or repaired. The move to install the new sirens was prompted by the failure of all but one of the city’s six sirens during a spring storm. Ironically, the two new sirens aren’t functional due to the weather. “They’re both installed but they’re not in working condition,” said Gary Jeans, public works superintendent. “The weather won’t let us hook them up to power.” Wires were run to the new horns last week.
