Weather stalls full activation of sirens

Alarms will be turned on after rain dries up

Severe weather warnings and emergencies will be heralded by two new sirens installed in Texarkana, Ark.

The move to install the new sirens was prompted by the failure of all but one of the city’s six sirens during a spring storm.

Ironically, the two new sirens aren’t functional due to the weather.

“They’re both installed but they’re not in working condition,” said Gary Jeans, public works superintendent. “The weather won’t let us hook them up to power.”
