A Bowie County jury sentenced a man to 60 years in a Texas prison last week for shooting a woman he thought had stolen his illicit drugs.

William Nelson, 39, shot Annie Bagsby with a pistol at his apartment on West Sixth Street when he discovered some of his illegal narcotics missing, court documents show.

Bagsby was shot in the abdomen and in the buttocks. She testified at a different trial earlier this month.

Bagsby and another woman were accused of stealing Nelson’s “dope” in the early morning hours of Dec. 19, 2007, documents said.
