As Texarkana, Texas, prepares to annex more than 2,300 acres of land, some residents living near the city limits may soon learn they’ll be living inside them.

“This is a plan that’s trying to anticipate where things are going to go,” said Shirley Jaster, director of community and public works. “We’re trying to look at future growth and where we might put roads.”

Almost a dozen areas around the city are being considered. Notices will be sent to property owners in September and public hearings will begin in October.
