Texas towing law a drag for Arkansas wrecker companies

A new Texas law, which goes into effect Monday, requires all employees of Texas-side towing companies to have a valid Texas driver’s license. This is a problem in Texarkana because most towing companies have some employees that live in Arkansas and as a result have had to let go any employees that could not obtain a valid Texas driver’s license.
Texas will require towing companies to have their employees licensed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration beginning Monday as the Texas Tow Act goes into effect.

This means all employees of Texas-side towing companies must have a valid Texas driver’s license, which is difficult, if not impossible for Arkansas residents.

With the dual-state situation Texarkana has, it appears the new law has and will bring some difficulties to area towing company employees and their respective employers.
