The Texarkana, Ark., Board of Directors is expected to take final action on the proposed renaming of a historic city street in Tuesday’s regular board meeting.

The meeting has been postponed one day because of Labor Day.

Changing eight blocks of Ash Street to Willie Davis Avenue has been shot down by the city before, but the decision was appealed.

Davis is a former NFL standout who grew up on Ash Street. His family wants to see the street name changed in his honor.
