A 35-year-old Grannis, Ark., man was killed and his 11-year-old son injured in a Labor Day ATV accident near Wickes, Ark., an official said.

James Watts was operating a 2008 Yamaha ATV westbound on Polk County Road 6 and his son, Dakota Watts, was a passenger.

Father and son were thrown from the ATV when it went off the edge of the road into a ditch and hit a tree, said Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Sawyer, who investigated the accident for the Arkansas State Police.
