A pay increase for Texarkana, Texas, police officers will remain the $380,000 initially proposed but will cost less thanks to a hiring lock.

City Council members adopted the fiscal budget Tuesday night and the police pay was clarified.

Feeling the city’s officers lagged behind similarly-sized cities in pay, officials initially discussed an across-the-board raise for officers. The total proposed price tag in the general fund budget was $380,000.
