At the proponents’ request, final action on the proposed renaming of a historic city street was postponed indefinitely during the Texarkana, Ark., Board of Directors regular meeting Tuesday.

The family of Willie Davis, a former NFL player who grew up on Ash Street, wants to rename eight blocks of the street in his honor.

In Tuesday’s meeting, their request was granted to postpone the final reading until they can provide additional information. The ordinance will not be addressed again until the proponents request it to be placed on the board’s agenda.
