Goals were set and officers elected as representatives of a new water district held their first meeting Tuesday.

The district is the result of a lawsuit between eight cities over water rates. A representative of each city involved sits on the board.

Pat McCoy, mayor of Maud, was elected chairman of the board, after a nomination by Wake Village Mayor Mike Huddleston.

Texarkana, Texas, City Manager Larry Sullivan recommended John Jarvis, a member of the Red River Redevelopment Authority board.
