When local attorney Don Cooksey failed to show for a hearing before a Bowie County Justice of the Peace on Aug. 27, the former client who sued him received a default judgment against him.

Thomas Brown was serving a term of felony probation assessed him in 2004 in Arkansas for misusing a credit card. Brown said he has satisfied all of his financial obligations to the court and has always reported faithfully to his probation officer.
