The final component of the Texas side’s city budget will be considered in a special meeting tonight as the City Council reviews the financial flow of Texarkana Water Utilities.

Recently, TWU officials told the city that the agency would end up with a negative cash flow if no rate increases occur in the coming year.

Increased operating costs are contributing to the money crunch. Chemical costs alone are expected to increase $800,000, and TWU treatment processes are being reviewed to find cost-cutting alternatives.
