The pets of the week are a female tabby/white cat brought to the shelter as a stray, and Bear, a 7-month-old, black/tan shepherd mix its family no longer wants. He is good with children, knows tricks and has a microchip. Bear is in cage D-15 and the cat is in cage C-12.

The Texarkana Animal Shelter has 70 dogs, 44 cats and 22 kittens for adoption, said a shelter official. There were 37 adoptions in the past week.
