No one from the public attended Texarkana College’s public hearing Monday and three board members also were not in attendance.

Board members Mike Craven, Randy Moore, Borden Bell, Jennell Ingram, Molly Beth Malcolm and Frank McClain were present. Board members Terry Taylor, Andrew Curry and Dr. C. Jack Smith were absent.

The Board of Trustees invited the public to attend to discuss the proposed tax increase, which is part of the 2008-09 budget.

The proposed rate is $0.089591 per $100 of taxable value, an 8 percent increase above last year’s rate of $0.08699...
