The steering committee of the developing water district in Bowie County will meet Wednesday to discuss a name for the organization and development of its budget.

The meeting will be discussion only, and items reviewed will appear on a future agenda for action.

Formed by eight cities in Northeast Texas and the Red River Redevelopment Authority, the group’s goal is to ensure water availability in this area for decades.

Creating a surplus of water for sale is also intended, by raising the water level of Wright Patman Lake near Texarkana.
