A man accused of escaping from the Miller County jail in April wants to take his case before a jury.

Demarcus Lamar Cooks, 38, is set for a December jury trial, Circuit Judge Jim Hudson said Tuesday during a pretrial hearing. Cooks will be defended by public defender Darren Anderson.

Cooks was being held in the jail on charges of commercial burglary and theft of property for allegedly robbing a tobacco store on State Line Avenue in February, according to court documents. Cooks allegedly stole $10,000 dollars worth of cigarettes. Access was gained to the tobacco store fr...
