Wreck kills driver, ruptures gas tank

Authorities close road, evacuate residents

DEKALB, Texas—A truck driver hauling gasoline was killed in a one-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon on Texas Highway 259, rupturing the gas tank and forcing the evacuation of numerous residents.

Authorities said about a 3-mile stretch of the roadway remained closed Wednesday night. It was not known immediately when the roadway would reopen to traffic.

Also, authorities said the fuel was leaking toward Anderson Creek near DeKalb and haz-mat crews were working to keep the fuel from entering the water.
