Cleanup continues at tanker wreck

Driver killed in accident was from Idabel

The truck driver killed Wednesday in a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 259 has been identified as Michael Leathers of Idabel, Okla., authorities said.

Leathers, 34, was traveling northbound on 259, crossed into the southbound lane, exited the road and landed near a small creek. The wreck occurred at 259 and County Road 4251, south of DeKalb.

It was still unknown Thursday what caused Leathers to leave the roadway. Justice of the Peace Gerold Rankin pronounced him dead at the scene. The truck was carrying fuel and the wreck caused the tank to rupture, spilling about ...
