Local authorities prepare for Ike

Weather likely to be foul

Hurricane Ike is coming to the Four States Area and he’s bringing strong wind and heavy rain with him.

Forecasters are predicting Ike will pass to the west of Texarkana, giving the local area a chance for some bad weather.

“It depends on the track. With the direction it’s going, it’ll pass over Northeast Texas,” said Matthew Duplantis, a forecaster for the National Weather Service in Shreveport, La. “You can look for a good six to eight inches of rain with possible locally higher amounts in certain spots.
