The Vasco McCoy Jr. Foundation recently made its first contribution of $10,000 toward a $75,000 pledge for Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s master of nursing program.

The university is offering two courses this fall giving practicing nurses a pathway to obtain a master’s degree. Administrators expect approval on the degree plan from the Higher Education Coordinating Board within the next school year. Those seeking the advanced degree will take 12 core classes and then go into either nursing education or administration. The classes are taught online and meet once a week on campus. ...
