Area braces for ‘dirty’ weather

Forecaster: Northeast quadrant not a good place to be

Weather forecasters say Texarkana is in for a wet and wild ride when Ike blows through town today.

“I don’t think you’ll see (the center pass over) until lunch,” said Christian Stapleton, forecaster for the National Weather Service out of Shreveport, La. “Prior to lunch, you’ll get the worst weather as it gets closer to you. You’ll have the threat of tornadic activity early in the day.”

If Ike stayed on the path on Friday, Texarkana will see its dirty side, the northeast quadrant of the storm where the worst weather and the heaviest rain occurs.
