EDITOR’S NOTE: On July 17, Andy Burnett’s parents, Donna and Larry Burnett of Texarkana, Ark., got the second worst call that could come to loved ones of soldiers. Their son, a medic, had been wounded gravely while serving in Afghanistan. Though he survived, Andy’s biggest battle lay ahead—to recover.
