The Fouke School District will pay the City of Fouke to use a city deputy marshal to patrol the schools three days a week.

The city council approved the agreement for the arrangement Thursday night.

Fouke Mayor Terry Purvis said school officials wanted Deputy Marshal Chuck Wise to continue to patrol in the schools. The officer had previously been paid from a federal grant, but the program ended.

To maintain his law enforcement certification, the officer has to be employed by a local, county or state law enforcement agency.
