One more public hearing will be held before the new Texarkana, Texas, property tax rate is enacted.

The rate is poised to climb 6 cents, from .5265 per $100 valuation to .5831. For a home valued at $50,000, property taxes would be $291.55, versus $263.25 last year.

Taxes on a home valued at $100,000 would be $583.10, up from $526.50.

The rate will be approved in the Sept. 22 City Council meeting. The final opportunity for public input is 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall, Texas Boulevard and East Third Street.
