RED LICK, Texas—An effort to regulate special events within the Red Lick city limits drew mixed reviews last week from the Red Lick City Council and eventually wound up dying altogether.

During its regular monthly meeting Thursday, the council discussed approving an ordinance to regulate special events.

A planned Pray for A Cure motorcycle rally is scheduled 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 4 in Red Lick, which prompted the proposed ordinance.

Alderman Bob Akin said he believed such an ordinance would be too far-reaching.
