The Texarkana, Ark., Advertising and Promotion Commission approved the allocation of some of the city’s money to the Texarkana, Ark., Baseball Association in a meeting Monday night.

“They’ve done a lot of good down there. It’s mainly because this commission has supported them,” said Mayor Horace Shipp during the meeting.

The money will go toward making improvements to the field in preparation for the 2009 Dixie Youth O-Zone World Series to be held in Texarkana, which will bring in thousands who will eat, sleep and shop in the area during the games.
