Texarkana, Texas, held its final tax rate hearing Monday with an audience of three, the same number that attended the first hearing.

The 6-cent increase will take the rate from .5265 per $100 valuation to .5831.

Charlie Bassett, city finance director, said the tax increase for a median home will be $4.25 per month. On a $20,000 home, taxes will be an additional 94 cents per month and on a $250,000 home, they will cost $11.79 more per month.

Resident Luella Sellers asked the council to consider a lower tax rate if one is necessary.
