Closing Winthrop Elementary School ‘uncomfortable’

HORATIO, Ark.—No one seemed comfortable Monday night during the public hearing where Horatio School District board members listened to comments about keeping Winthrop Elementary School open and building a new high school.

Scotty Smith, former Horatio school administrator, told school board members and an audience of about 200, “this is an uncomfortable position to be in,” but urged the board to keep Winthrop Elementary School open.
