Adger Smith, a business owner and newcomer to school politics, won with 64 percent of the vote in the Texarkana, Ark., School Board election Tuesday, according to complete but unofficial results.

Smith will serve a three-year term in the Zone 1 seat after capturing the win over Penny Easley.

“I look forward to working on the things I campaigned on. I want to work on the budget and funding for the magnet schools after the U.S. Department of Education grant runs out,” Smith said after the election results were tallied.
