The Texarkana College Board of Trustees began its search for a new president Tuesday by assembling a group of people and selecting a consulting firm to get the process started.

Board President C. Jack Smith said the benefits of using a search consulting firm is to have help in garnering prospective candidates.

“We know the type of individual we want (and) the skills set required, but we don’t know what’s in the marketplace. This is someone who knows the marketplace,” said Smith, explaining he and the board believe a search firm will do a more thorough and quicker job. <...
