Food, fun, farm animals for ‘Kids Days at the Fair’


Staff photo by Sharayah Sherrod Port Arthur, Texas, evacuees get a reprieve from the stress of being away from home as they attend Kids Days at the Four States Fairgrounds Wednesday and play with the costumed cow. The kids and their families hope to return home sometime in the next week or two.
Wall Street may be busy right now, but Wednesday vigorous trading was going on at the Four States Fair where hundreds of kids traded their pencils and paper for cotton candy and cattle.

Ag Learning Center Director Jennifer Cowling estimated about 1,500 kids came through for the annual Kids Days at the Fair, which continues today.

Cowling says the association is fortunate to be able to put on the annual program.

“I don’t know of any other organization that will provide four rodeo demos for these kids. We’re very lucky to have that available for them,” Cowl...
