On Saturday, Liberty-Eylau Independent School District voters will determine the fate of a proposed property tax increase for teacher and staff pay raises.

The sole polling place will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at L-E Middle School.

The proposed 7-cent property tax rate increase would boost L-E teachers’ salaries by about $3,100.

The district’s total current school tax rate is about $1.23 per $100 valuation. District officials hope voters will approve an increase to $1.30.
