A troublesome road project on North Sanderson Lane in Texarkana, Ark., took more steps toward the completion process Friday after a lengthy battle against the environment.

“Mother Nature hasn’t cooperated,” said City Manager Harold Boldt.

Because the section is prone to flooding, the city opted to tear it out and put in new, larger drainage culverts north of Watersprings Ranch.

When nearby McKinney Bayou backs up after rains, Boldt said flooding has been reported 2 feet deep across the road.
