The Ark-Tex Council of Governments will soon begin holding training courses on lead poisoning for the public, city officials and professionals as part of a $233,200 Environmental Protection Agency grant.

“The main goal is reaching and targeting people that haven’t been made aware of the dangers of lead poisoning,” said Paul Prange, ATCOG environmental resource planner.

The grant is a yearlong program and will begin Oct. 1 and carry through to next year, ending on Sept. 30, 2009.
