The Texarkana, Texas, City Council is expected to adopt final fiscal budgets and approve rate increases in its regular meeting today.

After weeks of workshops and hearings, property taxes are set to rise 6 cents, from .5265 to .5831 per $100 valuation. City officials expect that to average $4.25 more a month for homeowners.

In addition, water and sewer rates are set to go up 15 percent and 10 percent, respectively. That will take the average charge of $49 per month to $57 per month.
